Server Selection is an independent comparison website and interactive calculator for virtual private servers (VPS). Instead of asking you to read through dozens of pricing tables, it lets you describe what you actually need, then ranks providers by how well they fit that need.

We maintain a catalog of providers and plans and keep it organized around the things that matter when you rent a server: the type of workload you are running, how much memory and processing power it requires, where the server should be located, and what you are comfortable spending. The goal is a shorter path from a real requirement to a sensible shortlist.

Who it is for

The site is built for anyone who needs to rent a server and wants to compare options without a sales pitch. That includes developers spinning up a project, small businesses hosting a website or application, people running a game server or a personal cloud, and technically curious users who simply want a fair side-by-side view.

You do not need to be an infrastructure expert to use it. The calculator is designed to translate plain requirements into concrete plan recommendations, and every result links back to the provider so you can confirm the details yourself.

How we make money

Server Selection is free to use. When you click through to a provider and sign up, we may earn an affiliate commission from that provider. This commission is paid by the provider, never by you, and it does not raise the price you pay or unlock any different offer than you would find on your own.

We keep this arrangement deliberately separate from how results are ranked. Affiliate relationships do not buy a higher position, a badge, or a better score. Providers we do not have any commercial relationship with can and do appear alongside those we do, ranked purely on fit.

What Server Selection is not

We are not a hosting company, a reseller, or a control panel. We do not sell servers, take payments, provision machines, or provide technical support for any provider listed here. All of that happens on the provider's own website, under the provider's own terms.

We are also not a paid directory. Providers cannot purchase placement or edit their own ranking. Our job is to compare and to inform, and to be transparent about the one way the site earns revenue.
